Read Isaiah Chapter 5

1. What do you learn of the Beloved and His vineyard in verse 1? Verse 2?

2. Who is the vineyard in this chapter according to Isaiah 5:7? God’s pleasant plant?

3. What does God say of the vine in Psalm 80:8?

4. What does God say of the vineyard in Jeremiah 2:21?

5. What does Jesus say of the vineyard in Matthew 21:33-40

6. What does the Psalmist pray regarding the vineyard in Psalm 80:14-15?

7. What does God ask in Isaiah 5:3-4?

8. What does God promise regarding the vineyard in Isaiah 5:5? Isaiah 5:6?

9. What types of things were the people doing according to Isaiah 5:8-10? Consider reading these verses in other translations such as the Amplified for more details and information.

10. Read 1 Kings 21:1-15. How does this relate to Isaiah 5:8-10? What is your reaction to the story? What do you think God’s reaction was? Read on in the chapter and you will see it.

20. What does God promise in Isaiah 5:24-25?

21.What application can you make of these “woes” to your own life? Do you see evidence of covetousness, desire for fleshly living and lack of desire for the things of God, carelessness about the things of God, inability to distinguish between good and evil, pride (being wise in your own eyes) or lack of a sense of justice in your life? Ask God to reveal this to you if it is an issue. If He does, confess your sin and turn from it. He is faithful and just to cleanse you from all unrighteousness.
