Genesis 24 – Abraham/Isaac (Part 1)

July 2, 2016 by memullin

Read Genesis 24
1. What is happening in Genesis 24:1-4? What are the specifics of the command Abraham is giving his servant? What requirements does he have for the wife for his son?

2. What is the servant’s response in Genesis 24:5? How does Abraham response in Genesis 24:6?

3. What final instructions does Abraham give in Genesis 24:7?

4. What do we find the servant of Abraham doing in Genesis 24:12-14?

5. What is the result described in Genesis 24:15-20?

6. What do we learn about the servant from Genesis 24:21?

7. What does he ask in Genesis 24:23? How does she respond?

8. Review Genesis 24:15, Genesis 11:27-29, and Genesis 22:20. What do you learn about Rebekah? How is she related to Abraham? Isaac?

9. What do we find the servant doing in Genesis 24:26? What does this tell us about his spiritual condition?

NOTE: The servant’s conduct is a model for us. He prays before going into the city to find the wife. He worships God upon the first indicator that He has answered the servant’s prayer. He testifies of the LORD’s work in his life. He worshiped the LORD again upon confirmation of the LORD’s work. He was diligent to complete his work and return to his master. Think about how you can begin to follow this model in your own prayer life and walk with God.

10. What is the name of Rebekah’s brother?

11. How does the servant describe his master Abraham in Genesis 24:35?

12. What is the reaction of Rebekah’s Father and brother to the servant’s recounting of the story of his coming and finding Rebekah? What does this response tell you about them?
